Curtis Turner, driving his peach-colored #26 Ford, pairs up with #21 Glen Wood on the front row for the start of the April 22, 1957 NASCAR Convertible race at Winston-Salem's Bowman Gray Stadium. Turner won the race, giving his Peter DePaolo Ford team its eighth win in the first 11 races at the start of the 1957 ragtop season. Glen Wood in his independent Ford won two races during that stretch. A crowd of 7,800 packed the grandstands around the flat 1/4-mile track to watch the event.
